Alien Signals From Planet Retro
The resurgence of mainstream discussions around UFOs and UAPs (from government hearings to increased media coverage and public speculation) reflects more than renewed interest in extraterrestrial life. It points to a broader cultural moment characterised by uncertainty on sources of news and truth, and declining trust in traditional authority.
Alien Signals From Retro Waves was created as an entry for the Assembly Winter 2026 event in Helsinki. It touches on the idea that maybe aliens are already amongst us, and maybe not in the shape and form that has been traditionally portrayed in movies and TV series. What if aliens where actually your 80s-music, dancing-lover grandma? And what if they had been tuning into our reality through the most unexpected means - say a TV?

Divination Of The Past
Practices historically associated with divination (including astrology and tarot-reading) have experienced renewed popularity among Millennials and Generation Z.
At the same time, the most digitally connected generations in history report high levels of loneliness and social isolation. Despite unprecedented access to communication technologies, many struggle to build enduring forms of connection and belonging.
These parallel developments may suggest that the resurgence of divination may reflect more than spiritual curiosity alone. It may signal a broader search for meaning, certainty, and human connection in increasingly fragmented social environments. Who am I meant to be, according to my star and moon sign? Will I find love?
Divination of the Past explores these questions by inverting the traditional logic of divination. Rather than looking forward, the project looks backward, tracing the enduring human desire for connection across different periods and cultural settings.
